Ghazal in progress

Desire that has no passion, is like ghazals that have no beher.
Longing that is not restless, is like ghazals that have no beher.

In songs, in sounds in music, these ears seek out the notes of your voice,
All speech to them is meaningless, like ghazals that have no beher.

like a flower that has no fragrance, like a memory robbed by time,
Life passes in dull soullessness, like ghazals that have no beher.

From the heavens of silence pour down a gentle rain of tears,
Cloudless the sky's vast emptiness, like ghazals that have no beher.

Fill these barren chambers with the many colours of your laughter,
This house stands sombre, shelterless, like ghazals that have no beher.

Populate the darkness with stars, tiny orbs of twinkling delight,
Else there is just blank mirthlessness, like ghazals that have no beher.

(Beher is the meter of a couplet in ghazal. All the couplets in the same ghazal must be of the same beher.)
