Zindagi...kaisi hai paheli...

Finally, finally, finally...somebody wakes up and decides to correct as great injustice: Manna Dey is to get the Dadasaheb Phalke award for 2007 (Indian Express). At 90, he has waited too long. Wish they had given it when he was in his prime; he spent a long time in the doldrums in semi-retirement. Life is one serious riddle, as he sang once.

I had the luck to attend a live concert of his in Pune a couple of years back, and came away with so much to remember. Here's my favourite of his songs:
